Let's Take a Trip Through The Digestive System

Hello to all my amazing followers! Happy 2021 I hope you all have found time to reflect on 2020, and set goals to reach in 2021. I have already started making new products and I am so excited about this one.

In this project students will create beautiful postcards from each organ to describe a trip through the digestive system. They will include the following for each organ on the trip:

  • Look and function
  • Type of digestion
  • Why it is important

Students will include the following organs in the correct order: mouth, esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, rectum, anus, gallbladder, pancreas, liver.

That is how we greet each other during human body labs week, when my classroom becomes a hospital.  I love classroom transformations, and they don't have to be expensive. How to Make 💩 a Hands on Digestive System Lesson

Middle Schoolers love gross and fun  (so do I). This Poop Lab modeling brings all of that together in one amazing hands-on lesson, that they will never forget! My 7th graders need to know the digestive system function, and the organs that aid in digestion. This lab uses all the primary organs of digestion, and the digestive juices from the secondary organs. I usually have the students do a writing activity based on the digestive system, a few days before the lab to lay a foundation. That assignment prepares them for the quickness of the lab.  The most time consuming part for the teacher is prepping the lab. I have learned to have students help. Together we can complete the lab set up in 10 minutes. Alone it takes me over an hour to set it up. For set up, each group gets a station with all of the materials. My Top 5 Tools for Remote Learning

Welcome to The Witty Science Teacher blog! What a crazy week we have been through. I wish you peace and health! I wanted to share some ideas I have for remote learning. As of today, my school district is still attending school. However, I have seen how things can change with from one thing to another in just a few hours. Below I will share with you some of my favorite tools to use to teach digitally.  1. Hyperdocs Hyperdocs are a go to for me in the classroom, for sub plans, and one tool I plan to use if I need to teach remotely. Hyperdocs are basically digital webquest.
